ACTIVITY 1:
SIGNIFIERS VS AFFORDANCES

An affordance is what an object can do. Yet what an object can do is only revealed by a user. Therefore an affordance is what an object can do based on a user interaction. An affordance can be obvious or hidden.

A signifier clarifies an affordance, it illustrates or describes what an object can do. A signifier can be blatantly obvious or very subtle.

In the following examples are represented several examples of good - figure 1 - and bad affordances - figure 2,3 and 4 - together with the existence, or not, of signifiers

ACTIVITY 3:
PERSONAS VS CENÁRIOS

A user persona is an archetype or character that represents a potential user of your website or app. In user centered-design, personas help the design team to target their designs around users.

A scenario is a situation that captures how users perform tasks on your site or app. Scenarios describe the user’s motivations for being onsite (their task or goal) and/or a question they need answered, and suggest possible ways to accomplish these objectives. It is essentially a development of the user story, and can relate to multiple target users. However, scenarios can also be broken down into use cases that describe the flow of tasks that any one user takes in a given functionality or path.

ACTIVITY 3.1: PERSONAS E MAP OF CONCEPTS
ACTIVITY 3.2: PERSONAS E CENÁRIOS TO TSI_UMINHO
Choose an application that presents some problem

Persona #1:
- student about to enter an TSI course;
- a taste for technology;
- demand when it comes to the interactive part and the appearance of a site;
- young person who likes only the essential information, in a more organized and less dispersed way.

Persona #2:
- student of an TSI course;
- curiosity to know more about the course;
- taste for the technological area;
- interest in knowing in a more detailed way all the information;
- ease of understanding the concepts about TSI.

Cenário #1:
A student who has finished high school, who is interested in knowing the educational offer, at the University of Minho, regarding the TSI area, as well as the characteristics and objectives of these courses. He lives in the district of Braga and has already made a visit to the University of Minho, so he is interested in joining that University. He found the site of TSI@UMinho, through a Google search for "technologies uminho".

Cenário #2:
Student attending the MiEGSI course, belonging to the TSI area, at the University of Minho. Already has a previous knowledge of the area and the existence of the site itself. He also has a minimal knowledge of the course he attends, but wants to know more details of this whole creation process, as well as some history of the course.
